Today was our first full sea day aboard Oasis of the Seas, and it was packed with fun, laughter, and a little sparkle — literally. This cruise is extra special because we’re here to celebrate my amazing wife Candi’s 60th birthday, and Day 2 was all about making memories.
We started off with a relaxed breakfast in the main dining room, soaking in the ocean views and easing into that vacation rhythm. The service was excellent, and it set the tone for a laid-back day ahead.

Before we sailed, we signed up for a Bar Crawl & Poker Run, and it did not disappoint. We visited seven bars across the ship, grabbing a playing card at each stop. The best five-card hand at the end won half the pot — and wouldn’t you know it, our friend Debbie pulled four kings and took home the win! It was a great way to explore the ship, meet new people, and enjoy a few creative drinks along the way.
Afterward, we grabbed lunch at El Loco Fresh, the onboard taco spot. It was quick, tasty, and perfect for a sea day snack. I could definitely get used to tacos and sunshine being a daily thing.

Back in the cabin, we surprised Candi with some birthday magic. My buddy Bill and I decorated our stateroom with balloons, birthday magnets, and a big birthday banner — it brought a big smile to her face and made the moment feel extra special.

Tonight was formal night, and even though there was a bit of heartbreak, Candi handled it like a champ. Unfortunately, five of her dinner outfits were accidentally left behind, still hanging in our closet at home. She was disappointed — understandably so, because she had planned and packed with care. But despite that, she pulled together something beautiful, and let me tell you — she absolutely glowed in her sparkly green dress. She looked stunning, and even more, she radiated grace and joy. That’s just who she is.

Dinner was once again delicious — I went with the strip steak, and yep, I had escargot again (it’s becoming a cruise tradition at this point). The atmosphere in the dining room was elegant and relaxed, just what you hope for on formal night.
We capped off the evening in the Music Hall, where a phenomenal live band from the Philippines played an incredible set. They were full of energy and talent, and it was the perfect ending to a full and meaningful day. A couple of cocktails later, we were ready to call it a night — happy, full, and feeling all the love.

Even with a few bumps, Day 2 reminded me why we cruise — to celebrate life, to make the best of every moment, and to share experiences with the people we love most.
