Every adventure starts with a question—and today, I am flipping the script. I asked my followers to send me their biggest travel questions, tips they need, and curiosities about life on the road. You asked. I am answering.
Let us dive into your travel curiosity one suitcase at a time.
✈️ Q: What is the one thing you always bring on a trip, no matter where you are going?
A: A positive attitude. Travel does not always go as planned flights get delayed, weather changes, and sometimes your hotel room isn’t quite what you expected. But if you show up ready to embrace the experience, everything becomes part of the adventure. A good mindset is more important than anything in your suitcase.
🧳 Q: How do you pack light but still have everything you need?

A: Start with the rule of three: 3 shirts, 3 bottoms, and 3 pairs of underwear. Rotate and mix. Choose items that layer well and match multiple outfits. Roll do not fold. And always pack one “just in case” item—but make it small, like a light rain jacket.
🚗 Q: What is your favorite road trip snack combo?
A: I keep it simple—licorice or trail mix. Licorice is great because it does not melt, and it gives you that sweet hit without the mess. Trail mix is my go-to for long drives: a little protein, a little crunch, and just enough chocolate to keep it fun. Bonus—neither needs a cooler.
🏖️ Q: What is the best vacation you have ever taken?
A: Hands down—my Southern Caribbean cruise. Sailing through turquoise waters, I explored islands like Aruba, Curaçao, St. Lucia, and Barbados. Each stop had its own vibe: pastel-colored towns, volcanic beaches, and warm, welcoming locals. But the best part? Waking up each morning with a new view and a new adventure waiting. It was paradise on repeat.
🧼 Q: Is it true you can get free stuff on cruises?
A: Absolutely! Check with Guest Services—many cruise lines offer free toiletries, playing cards, band aids, even anniversary decorations if you ask nicely. I wrote a whole blog about it: 20 Free Things You Can Get from Guest Services on a Cruise.
💡 Q: What is the biggest mistake new travelers make?
A: Over-planning. Leave space to wander. Some of my favorite memories came from detours and delays. Trust me: the best stories happen off-schedule.
🧭 Q: What do you always look for when exploring a new place?
A: I look for a hidden gem or diamond-in-the-rough local dining spot, the kind of place the locals love, but tourists have not discovered yet. It could be a hole-in-the-wall diner, a food truck in a back alley, or a mom-and-pop joint serving up recipes passed down for generations. That is where the real flavor of a place lives.
