The Push, The Pause, and the Payoff: My Life as a Constantly-Learning Content Creator

People think being a content creator is all adventures, cameras, and the occasional free stuff. But let me tell you — there’s a whole emotional roller coaster happening behind the scenes. And lately, I’ve been feeling every twist and turn of it.

Traveling is my escape, my reset button, my spark. But when I’m not on the road, I’m home staring at screens, editing clips, scribbling notes for the next blog, and talking myself through the highs and lows of creating on three different platforms. And each one? It hits a different part of my soul.

My Blog: The Thing That Keeps Me Grounded

Take The Trip by Brian is where I feel the most “me.”

No pressure, no algorithms, no dance trends I need to learn. Just stories, memories, food, places, and thoughts poured out exactly how I want them told.

Writing keeps my mind steady.

It’s the outlet where I can breathe and get back in touch with why I started creating in the first place — to inspire people to travel, explore, taste, try, and enjoy life one adventure at a time.

My blog is my anchor… the calm in the creative storm.

And then… there’s YouTube. Frustration in HD

My YouTube Channels: My Travel Channel: Take the Trip by Brian,

My Ohio State fan channel… Buckeye Brian O-H-I-Flow

And My Food Review Channel…. Brian’s Big Bite

Listen, I love making videos — the shooting, the tasting, the reactions, the goofy moments. But nothing humbles you faster than checking your subscriber count after putting in hours of filming and editing and thinking:

“Really? That’s it?”

My YouTube channel tests my patience more than an TSA airport line ever has.

It’s a platform where you can work your butt off and still feel invisible. But even through that frustration, I keep going. Because every now and then, someone comments, “I tried this restaurant because of you,” or “I really loved your Video” and suddenly the hours feel worth it.

YouTube stretches me — and sometimes stresses me — but it’s also helping me grow thicker skin and sharper skills.

TikTok: My Surprise Source of Motivation

Ah, TikTok. The platform I didn’t expect to love but somehow became the place where I feel the most uplifted.

With over 1,200 followers, TikTok gives me something the others don’t: momentum.

Short videos, quick reactions, instant engagement — it reminds me that people are watching, are enjoying, and do care.

TikTok is like a little cheerleader shouting,

“Keep going! Someone out there is laughing, liking, sharing because of YOU.”

And honestly? That motivation has kept me pushing through the dips on the other platforms.

What All This Teaches Me

Being a creator is more than posting content. It’s a cycle of:

Creating → Doubting → Reflecting → Growing → Trying Again.

It teaches you that success doesn’t come all at once — it comes in waves.

One day your blog is flowing.

One day your YouTube feels stuck.

One day TikTok gives you the boost you didn’t know you needed.

And through it all, you realize the real win isn’t the numbers — it’s the fact that you keep showing up. You keep improving. You keep sharing pieces of your world with people who want to be a part of it.

In the End…

My blog keeps me grounded.

My YouTube keeps me humble.

My TikTok keeps me motivated.

And the whole journey keeps me learning — to step back, reflect, and keep going even when the metrics don’t match the effort.

Because one day, one post, one video could change everything.

And until then?

I’ll be here, creating, traveling, writing, recording — and taking the trip, one platform at a time.

Until next time… Thanks for Being Here! and Sharing in my Journey!

Kimmi, thank you so much for your kind words — they truly mean more than you know. And thank you for subscribing! support keeps me going, especially on the days when creating content feels tougher than it should.

I really want to encourage you to start blogging. Even if it’s just for yourself at first, that’s exactly how I began. I was a retired chef who suddenly needed a creative outlet. I didn’t know what direction to go, so I started traveling, sharing my experiences, and little by little… it grew into something meaningful.

You don’t need the perfect plan or the perfect moment — just start. Write what you love, what you feel, what excites you. The rest will come with time.

If you ever need inspiration or a little push, I will be here encouraging you on. You got this — just do it. (I will subscribe!) Brian

Wow I am so happy to have just read this from you right now. I really needed this. It’s just been a bit rough lately, and this morning I said I need a sign, it I should start blogging or not. I logged back in to WordPress….I clicked on notifications, not expecting a response from you, or at least not one that I will now take as my sign!! I am that kind of person though, who needs the perfect time and a plan, and I realized after reading your response that I have created the “perfect plan” too many times!! I then think to myself, well it’s just not the time. I talk myself out of it!! So thank you SO MUCH for your words as well Brian!! I am getting to it right now!!
