Some places hit you with great food.
Others hit you with something deeper.
My recent stop at Lori’s American Grille managed to do both.
One Bite and I Understood the Hype
Let’s start with the burger — because that first bite told me everything I needed to know.

I ordered The Great American Burger, topped with pimento cheese, pickles, lettuce, and tomato. The moment I bit into it, the hype made sense. This burger was tender, juicy, and cooked perfectly, the kind of burger that doesn’t need explaining — it just speaks for itself.
Juice was running down my hand… and yep, down my arm too. That’s when you know you’re doing it right.
The pimento cheese added a rich, creamy bite without overpowering the beef, the pickles cut through with just the right tang, and everything came together in that messy, glorious way only a truly great burger can.
This wasn’t just food — this was comfort, pride, and craftsmanship stacked on a bun.
A Wall That Made Me Feel a Kind of Way

Before the food even hit the table, the walls at Lori’s American Grille stopped me in my tracks.
Veterans’ photos everywhere.
Faces. Stories. Service.
As a veteran myself, it hit me a little differently. You don’t expect a burger joint to stir emotion, but standing there looking at those photos made me feel proud, seen, and respected. It wasn’t performative. It was genuine.
It reminded me that this place isn’t just about feeding people — it’s about honoring them.
Then there’s Lee.
From the moment I walked in, his welcoming attitude and fun personality set the tone. You could tell immediately — this isn’t just a job for him. He loves this place, and that energy carries through the entire experience.
Lee made you feel like you weren’t just a customer — you were a guest. The kind of guy who remembers faces, laughs easily, and makes sure you leave happier than when you walked in.
Places like Lori’s don’t feel special by accident. They feel special because of people like him.
More Than a Meal
Lori’s American Grille isn’t just about burgers — though that burger alone is worth the trip.
It’s about:
Respect for veterans Genuine hospitality Food made with care and pride
It’s the kind of place where the walls tell stories, the staff welcomes you like family, and the food reminds you why simple done right is unbeatable.
Brian’s Big Bite (is my YouTube channel for restaurant reviews)
A great burger isn’t just about the toppings or how it’s cooked — it’s about how it makes you feel when you take that first bite.
At Lori’s American Grille, one bite and I understood the hype.
From my plate to yours, this is Brian’s Big Bite. (AKA: Take the Trip by Brian)
